I have a Pentair MasterTemp 400 pump (20 months old, rarely used, installed by dealer, hooked up to a 240 gallon capacity propane tank) that I turned on for a couple hours this weekend, to get pool from ~76 to ~80. I turned it on and off manually -- it's not on a schedule or anything.

Yesterday noticed the pool was dang hot, 90. Heater was on, and it displayed 292 on the lcd, like it was set to 292 degrees or the water passing through was 292. F. Turned it OFF.

Today I heard it going again. Pool is 95. Turned it OFF. While on hold with Pentair, went back outside to find it was turned on again. Turned it OFF.

It is 94 degrees outside.

My question: I have a home warranty and their local pool maintenance folks will come out in a few days, but what do I do today? Turn off propane? Electrical? I don't even know if it has it's own breaker.

Pool company who installed it says there is only a 1 year warranty on this unit, tho Pentair site seems to indicate might be 2 years.

Thanks in advance!

I spoke to Pentair and they said this is almost definitely a problem with the touchpad membrane. Contrary to what the dealer just told me, the heater has a 2 year warranty so they will cover parts and labor.
