I'm going to order a raypak natural gas heater for my pool builder. construction supposed to start next week. He dosen't do alot of heaters. Should I have him plumb a bypass for the heater, in case I ever need to slam the pool??
I also plan to install a flo-vis flometer bwtn the heater and the swg, can it serve as the checkvalve??

That is a check valve also so yes on that count. Having a bypass is always good for whatever reason you need it. I don't think you need it for slamming however.
