Hayward SWG - Salt reading problem

I have a 10,000 Gal pool and a Blue Essence generator by Hayward.

My salt level when read at the pool store is ~ 3750.

My salt level on the Blue Essence is generally showing ~2400 and often the instant read is 0, so it is not generating unless I super chlorinate.

My salt cell is about 6 months old.

How can I figure out where my problem is?

Basic AquaRite Diagnostics.

This is the basic information we need to know in diagnosing a problem:
  • Report all readings when you..
    • Move the switch from auto to off and check all of the readings.
    • Move the switch back to auto and recheck the readings.
    • Move the switch to off for a minute and then back to auto and recheck the readings.
  • What are the first seven characters of the cell and box serial numbers?
  • What is the actual salinity and how are you measuring it?
What is the cell size?

THE POOL STORE TESTED THE SALINITY WITH A DEVICE THAT IS THE SIZE OF A PENLIGHT (diameter about thesis of a nickel) and the reading was 3950 ppm
The pool store's automated water tester showed 3132

Is the cell clean and free from scale?

Pool stores are notorious for bad testing. You might want to get your own test kit.

Amperage is indicating that the salt is probably in the 2100- 2400 ppm range. Store results are always suspect. Get yourself a proper test kit.
You should test the salinity with a K-1766 salt test kit to be sure.

Get the cell tested at a store that tests cells.

Bring a water sample so that they can test the salinity at the same time.
