Hello all. Thanks for the add! New pool owner here and already ready to pull my hair out! LOL.
I've got a air leak that I am 99% sure I have isolated down to the strainer cover/gasket area. I can turn the leak on and off by holding the hose pipe in 1 area around the lid and watch the air escape the pump. When i remove it, it starts coming back. I plan to use a smoke stick just to confirm that it is indeed the lid and not the male adaptor on the pump itself (just thinking there is a small chance it could be catching the water that im putting on the lid, but when i try to isolate the adaptor, it doesn't seem to help) that is sucking air...hoping to see the smoke get sucked in. Anyway. This is a brand new pump, brand new gasket. I have used magic lube to try to create a better seal, but it doesn't seem to help. Are there any tricks yall know of that will help create a better seal?
