So new pool and pump. Hayward powerflo matrix 2 speed pump. All new power and circuits/GFCI. Pump and all equipment grounded. Pool been up and running for month. Really no issues. Been dry and no rain though. Last night first real rain. This am pump not on as usual. So gfci is off. Reset at main panel and at gfci. Once plug pump back in receptacle and power on it makes a popping sound at pump and trips circuit. Done this several times. Not sure if the rain is the issue. Or if the pump motor just decided to die. It’s brand new. Any ideas?

Here was the issue. Opened up back and
Found black wire had been rubbed to copper by zip tie when put together at factory. Manuf error. Got a ticket into Hayward on the pump. Will send them a pic. Maybe a new pump motor as this one sounds rough now. See pic
