Hello,
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend.
We are slowly making progress on our therapy pool set-up.
Our current challenge is getting the elbow connector between the pump and filter to line up, be level, and not leak. This is a combo filter & pump and we have reached out to Fitmax; hoping someone here might be able to provide some guidance before Tuesday.
There are a few posts about this combo pack; only one mentioned they discarded the clear hard plastic elbow and opted for flex hose.
The problems:
Per the manual, the clear elbow must point diagonally so the filter housing can sit on the very small corner of the included mounting plate. This is challenging.
The elbow is either too high or too low to be level with the filter's self-leveling union connector. So the filter tilts down or up and the union connection will leak from the front or the back of the large nut.
We have not been able to get the clear elbow level with the filter, facing the correct position, and tight in the pump housing. Self-sealing silicone tape has been helpful, but still not achieving the exactness needed.
Not to mention, we will need to disconnect this magical union connector every time we need to replace the filter cartridge.
Added challenge, the clear elbow holds the filter housing. If we replace the rigid elbow with flex the filter housing needs to be secured to something. No idea what that "something" will be.
I forsee a new sand pump in our future. For the immediate, I would prefer to get all included equipment functional so we can close out our permits with the town.
No idea what we are doing wrong. We appreciate any guidance.
