I had another post regarding a DE leak which has been resolved but still have questions regarding the
multiport valve and I'm hoping someone here can help as the PB hasn't been any help (previous owner put
me in touch with PB during the purchase of the house).

The valve's handle has what I think is a lot of play (roughly 1.5 inches). Another member suggested the
spring might have broken and so I purchased a new spring with the washers (comes in a set of 2). I opened
the valve and found the spring to be in "good" shape (not broken) but I changed it either way and put in
both washers even though my valve only had one metallic one. This didn't reduce any play in the handle.

Then I bought a brand new valve thinking mine is no bueno and to my surprise the new one also has a lot of
play in the handle! I asked the manager at Leslie's and he said that's normal and sent me on my way.

So now here I am asking for help again. Is that much play in the handle normal? I did replace the spider
gasket while troubleshooting my DE leak.

Also, is it normal for the pump to lose prime when operating the valve? The valve also "leaks" from the
waste pipe when moved. Have no memory of how it was prior to me troubleshooting my DE leak.

Thank you in advance!

hey! thanks for the reply! that was the 1 thing
I remembered from the PB when opening the
pool, do not move it with pump running and so
I always turn pump off every time I'm gonna
operate the valve. 👼
