Hello all,

(Love this website; thank you in advance for your help!)

New pool owner. Pump went out. The replacement is between the MaxFlo and the Super Pump (both are variable speeds -- 230 volt).

I've ready A LOT, and other than a larger strainer basket, and a few minor specs, the difference between the two seems negligible (My humble opinion).

The Super Pump cost about $130 more, but I don't any reason to justify the extra cost.

Can someone shed some light on this?

Pool: ~18,000 Gallons
Sand filter: ~62 Max flow rate
Pool pluming: 1.5 inches

(Planning to convert to a salt water chlorinator next month -- i'm thinking the Hayward AquaRite for a 40K gallon .. b/c something I read suggested 1-2 times the actual gallons was size appropriate?)

I got mine used for a very good deal so not sorry at all.

Unless you have high flow rate requirement features, you will rarely run at top speed anyway.
