Greenish area developing below the skimmer and some evidence of algae in areas where the plaster is pitted

I thought it was some sort of reflection at first but there is definitely an area of the plaster that has a greenish tint to it - probably extending about 3 feet down from the skimmer and maybe 1-2 feet wide. I see a few mildly pitted areas in the plaster (didn't expect that after it only being 6 years old) that have algae in them. Doesn't brush off with my regular nylon. Guess I'll take my wire brush to it. I'm not real happy with the way the new plaster has developed. It's a very uneven appearance and, as said, some evidence of pitting. That's why we had the old plaster redone. It got to the point where the bottom of the pool roughly resembled a coral reef. Been meaning to send a few pics to the company that did the work. They no longer serve our area however so if the pool would need replastering again in the near future - I'll have to look elsewhere.

Let me know of any suggestions. I've always kept up with algaecide (relative to the baqua program). Of late I've been adding non-chlorine shock that goes in the pool right in front of the skimmer. Could that be responsible for some of this?

I'll let the pics speak for themselves. We replaced our old plaster because it was getting pitted -which becomes a haven for algae, etc. besides looking bad. So now it seems to be happening again, except that the original plaster lasted 25 years. Some of this pitting is really rough - other spots look bad but are actually as smooth as the rest of the plaster surface. The builder did say that as the "cream" wears off, we'll start to see variations. Still, overall, I'm not real pleased with how it's turning out - all blotchy and uneven around the bottom and walls. In some places there is what looks like ugly streaking - almost like you'd expect to see in an old pool badly in need of reno. Disappointing after spending a little under $20k.

I’m sorry, I can’t help with this one, but commenting to keep you at top of list.

I’m somewhat new to the TFP, but your CH may be low and contributing to the plaster issue. If your test kit has a CSI calculator, see what it says.
