Question… I have a green pool… All of my chemicals are in balance with the exception of chlorine… it comes out a little high… I got my water tested by Leslie’s pool supply and they said everything is great… they suggested that maybe my sand filter didn’t have enough sand and that is why I have a green pool… I added 200 lbs of sand because it was low… will this clear my pool? Or do I need to add some sort of chemical to help?

hey there Yguardardo.... Algae is a chemistry problem, not a mechanical problem as suggested by that clueless Leslie's store.
Somewhere along the way your free chlorine (FC) level dropped and allowed algae to take hold in the pool. It can grow even in the presence of chlorine if the chlorine isn't high enough, LONG ENOUGH.
First thing I would suggest strongly is for you to never go back in to a pool store for pool advice. Its worth as much as you paid for that testing.
Next obtain your OWN *respected, reliable, reproducible and recommended* test kit and YOU take over the testing. Either the Taylor K-2006C, or the TF-100Pro. I prefer the TF-100 Pro myself. Its available at www.tftestkit.net The Taylor kit is available from various online sources but make sure its the "C" version or your kit will run out of test reagents too soon.

Don’t panic on the testing with your own kit. After a few, it becomes easy. And the experts here are very good, donating their time so the only skin they have in the game is helping folks to get a clear pool and keep it that way.
No the test kit isn’t cheap up front, but most save way more dollars in the first few months AND have a crystal clear pool!

First, if you have a green pool your chemistry cannot be great. Leslie's is wrong. As others have said, a green pool is a chemistry problem. Please read and follow all of links Maddie gave you and definitely get a good test kit. Yes, it's some money up front but compared to the amount of money you'd spend at the pool store when they try to sell you every magic potion to fix a green pool, it's an investment worth making.
Second, yes you do need some sort of chemical to help with the green - it's called liquid chlorine or plain old bleach (no scents, no splash-less, no brighteners or anything)! Stock up on it, you're going to need it. Also download the PoolMath app. You're going to need that too.
Third, you're going to need your POP - pool owner patience. Green pools don't clear overnight and sand filters are the slowest at clearing once you kill the algae. But you need to kill it first and if it's green, it's alive.
