Fresh opening and my TA Level is 420+

Hi All,

Fresh opening and my TA is off the charts. Tested multiple times with Taylor 2006 kit, 2006 doesn't expire kit until 2022 late. Here's my numbers tonight. I've been trying the aerate with inlet facing up with huge water line breakage, then been going nuts with adding Muriatic Acid. Pump is on filter.

FC: 4.0
TA: 450
CYA: 15
pH: 8.0+

What is the pH and TA of your fill water?

Is your test kit new? You maybe suffering from static build up on the dropper tip of r-0009 .
Try wiping the tip between drops with a damp paper towel. After the first couple of times of doing this it shouldn’t be a problem anymore.

• Sometimes a static electric charge can build up on the R-0009 dropper bottle tip, causing the drops to be smaller than usual and making the test read higher than actual. You can prevent this by wipping the tip of the dropper bottle with a damp cloth or tissue before you start and after each drop.
• Hold the dropper bottles vertically and squeeze gently, so that drops come out slowly and seem to hang on the tip of the dropper bottle for a moment before falling.
