Frankenplug for skimmer

Hey guys I just had American leak detection out. They found my leak which is under one of my skimmers. Anyone have experience with the frankenplug skimmer saver? Anything I should know or be aware of? Ultimately the skimmer needs replaced but I would like to make it a few more years

I have a fiberglass pool with a cracked return fitting. The threads are cracked. i repaired with JB Weld last year but crack got a little bit wider. Has anyone ever heard of or used FITTING SAVER by Anderson Manufacturing at leaktools.com?
