I agree totally. I should have started keeping it under control when it was still only a small mound. I realize the restrictions associated with it. At this point, to dig it all out would entail some work but I think it will need to be done. I always wear a mask when working with it BUT wind up driving over it with the mower and, as you correctly indicate, there are times when it's bone dry and then kicks up dust .
I don't like the stuff to be quite honest. I like it for its filtering ability, but otherwise would never miss it if I never had to open another bag of it. This is sort of where I'm stuck on the sand option - what do you do with all of it once it needs to be changed? From what I'm told, the pool store doesn't take it along. I love swimming, but, quite honestly, some of this other stuff - worrying about chemicals, maintaining readings, on and on , is starting to get old after 31 years.
So...Melbourne, eh? I'd LOVE to go to Australia - has always been high on my list. Who knows when your continent will start allowing US visitors again. Same for other countries.
