Foam sizing

Hi All-

Been prepping ground and almost to buying foam underlayment for my 12x24 intex ultra... is there any reason i would want to extend the foam beyond the 12x24 footprint of the pool? Is the footprint exactly 12x24? The boards come in 4x8 -Thanks!

I went about 2 feet past on each side just because of the size.. mine is 16x32 and my foam is 16 feet wide but the bottom of the pool is not, the top is close to 16 feet wide...

Get it close, whatever it lands on and call it a day, I did not cut anything and 9 years later the foam looks ragid and has some holes in it from hail but nothing happened to it..

Just get 9, 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch sheets and connect them together with 3 inch gorilla tape..
