I just learned of the need for a flow switch - our installer didn't put one in. I've bought one and want to get it in the correct sequence. I understand I need ~12" straight flow ahead of the switch. Is the correct sequence:

1. Heater -> check valve -> flow switch -> SWG -> pool, or
2. Heater -> check valve -> SWG -> flow switch -> pool, or
3. Other?

I've got a fairly straight run from heater to SWG right now, so can likely fit either way. Thanks!

Depending on the SWCG you have, if it's the basic long tube type, that can act as part of the 12". So, having the sensor after the cell works when you don't have tons of space.
For example if you have a 90, then just enough room for the cell and sensor, then put the cell first, so the sensor has that 12" (from the cell).

Thanks all, great points - it is indeed an Aquatrol which, if mounted vertically on the return, does not require a flow switch. Unfortunately it has been mounted horizontally, which I now realize is a big no-no without a switch. I'm surprised the installer didn't get something this important right in the first place.
