After 7 weeks the pool was finally finished. We would've been done in 6 weeks if we hadn't gotten so much rain. We are very happy with our PB and couldn't believe how quickly and efficiently they did everything. After having the pool for a couple weeks, here are some of my initial thoughts and opinions. After a lot of searching we went with the Finest Finish Radiant Fusion Regal Blue Plaster. I'm posting pics and videos since we couldn't find a lot of pics of this color online. I went with the A&A in floor cleaning system. I read a ton of bad reviews online for in floor systems and all the reasons not to install one. I also read all the problems with the robots and Polaris constantly having to be rebuilt. The in floor system has a lifetime warranty as long as i own the house. The jet heads in the floor are quick and easy to change if one should fail. The water valve is easily accessible in my equipment area. As far as the plumbing to all the jets, that's no different than all the plumbing under the slab of my house so that wasn't a concern for me. All the other working parts are easy to access and change. My PB upgraded me to the XF intelliflo pump with the in floor system. They also installed 3" suction line from the pool to the pump, then 2.5" return to the water valve and 2" pipe from the water valve to the venturi jet heads in the floor. I believe this pipe sizing is one key to the success of the in floor system. I have my ET 8 set to clean the pool 2 times a day for a total of 6 hours for the initial cleaning on the new pool. I live in a new residential area with a ton of dirt and dust getting kicked up. After two weeks my pool is crystal clear and the floor is spotless. Once a week there's two small areas on the floor that have a little dirt sitting. One corner in the shallow and one in the deep. It literally takes all of 20 seconds to brush those two areas out into the pool to be picked up. The beach entry and the stairs are always spotless. With my XF pump running 24/7 to circulate and 6hrs of cleaning per day, according to my electric provider with the KWH I've used the past two weeks, my electric bill will only go up about $40 a month by adding the pool. Not bad at all! I also installed a MultiCyclone 16 Centrifugal Pre Filter. This is a must have! The amount of dirt, plaster aggregate and pvc shavings was unreal the first couple days that this pre filter captured before it could go to my cartridge filter. The in floor system had no problem picking up the plaster chunks and bringing them to the pre filter. The Multicyclone saves a ton of cleaning on your cartridge filters, and when you see all it catches before the water goes to the cartdige filter you'll understand why. The pre filter takes 30 seconds to clean. Just spin the backwash valve and all the dirt goes into a drain and you never have to touch it. If you're building a pool, spend the extra money on this! I also have the Venturi Skimmers which move a ton of water. A few of my little girls toys fell in the pool and it didn't take long for them to end up in the skimmer.

With the help of TFP I bought the Taylor TF-100 kit and learned all about pool chemistry. The kit was well worth the $70! After two weeks here's my test results on the Taylor kit before taking the water in to the pool store:
FC- 5 PH- 7.5 CC- 0.4 CH 330 TA 120 CYA 35

So I took my water into the pool company for fun and had them test. The guy came back and said everything looks perfect! Thanks TFP for all your help!

Thanks! yes I'm a Little OCD about my turf. The PB did an awesome job of destroying as little grass as possible. I've got Palisades Zoysia and love it!

That looks awesome. Did you still end up with 870 sq ft of decking or did you get more in the end?

We ended up with a little over a 1000 sq/ft. Rather than have the cut in on the left side and the angled strip on the right, we filled all that in and kept the concrete a perfect rectangle. I read a lot of posts about people wishing they had more pool decking so it was an easy decision to add it now rather than to later.

pool came out awesome! your pad is very very neat! where did you get ur lounge chairs. my wife is looking and i'm not liking anything out there.

jim

Thanks!

I bought ours at https://www.hayneedle.com/product/modway-convene-wicker-outdoor-chaise-lounge-with-cushion.cfm but they were $30 cheaper than they are now. They had the best price with no tax and free shipping. I haven't put our pads on ours yet, but they are well made and comfortable. They also have aluminum powder coated frames which you won't have to worry about rusting and staining your pool deck.

i don't get what makes some of these so much more expensive than others. they look exactly the same. i like the ones you got. plus you get the cushions if you want to use them. good buy!

From what I've gathered is, the cheaper ones have iron frames which are heavier and will eventually start rusting. I've read a lot of reviews on iron framed chairs and there were a bunch of people complaining about rust spots on their concrete. The more expensive ones have aluminum, plus they're powder coated. The wicker seems of good sturdy quality and the cushions are 2" thick and provide ample padding. Plus, the covers zip off the cushions to throw in the washing machine. I'm just waiting to put the cushions on after I get some covers for the whole chair. I figure the covers will prolong the life as well protecting them from the elements when not in use.

Hi... you guys pool is beautiful. I too live in your area and I'm having a hard time with the finish. I think I want the regal blue but pictures can really be deceiving. Is there anything you can tell me about this color blue that might can help me decide? Thanks

Congrats on a beautiful pool - Looks amazing; and I'm biased to rectangular pool :) I just like the simplicity of it.

Good choice on the placement with the pool - I find that it makes the pool longer when you're coming down the steps :)

We are having one build with similar ideas ( minus the waterfall )
