Hi - Just had 1st hot tub delivered and shortly after came across this site - very interested in the approach advocated here and have learned some so far - though much more to learn. Regarding how to get started - I did receive a starter kit that I used out of the gate though haven't been successful balancing water yet. I used a bottle of metal control and a bottle of ph reducer as well as small amounts of Dichlor. Question - do I need to empty / refill tub before adopting the TFP method or can I just shift to that - tub was filled on 6/6? Thanks in advance for your counsel!

If you have a proper test kit (TF-100/Pro-Series or Taylor K-2006C) then you could validate if the water is well-balanced in order to leave it. But if it's questionable, you may have to start over. Did you do an Ahh-Some purge upon receipt of the tub? That should be step #1 for any new tube to get all the factory junk out of the lines. Did you see our article below? Thank you! I did not do an Ahhsome purge first - I didn’t find this site until I filled tub and added starter chemicals from starter kit. I have the TF100 Pro test kit on order and am accumulating other chemicals recommended here. I appreciate your suggestion of validating status of current water - even if it’s okay I’ll plan for a proper Ahhsome purge in very near future. Looking forward to learning more about spa water chemistry than I ever thought I’d need to know!
