Hello from Katy, Texas. I am a first time pool owner and my family is absolutely loving it. We have an approx. 23K Gal Plaster pool that was installed just over a year ago. I just recently found your site and I'm hooked! I've been able to maintain most of my important levels thus far, but I'm sure the info. here will help me perfect it. My CYA level is starting to drift a little high, so I'll be looking for help on getting that back down and possibly switching over to liquid chlorine instead of Trichlor.

Welcome to TFP! :)
Yup, tabs are raising your CYA into a potential water exchange or algae issues. Post a full set of numbers when you get a chance, the experts can help you tweak if needed.

My latest test values are as follows:
Free Chlorine - 2.0
pH - 7.4
Total Alkalinity - 75
Calcium Hardness - 500
Water Temp - 85
Cyanuric Acid - Too high to accurately measure with my kit. 100 is the first value on the indicator, but black dot disappears well before getting there.
