First time PH test of the season.

I tried to open my pool today. As people suggest, I tried to use my Taylor K-2006 to do chemical test. However the water is light yellow/light green (full of algea I think). It makes my PH test look like pretty low (acid). btw, my Taylor K-2006 is two-year old, however I always store it in my basement. I just wonder if I need to replace my K-2006 in this case, or how do I do the PH or other chemical test with water having a light yellow/light green color. or should I do SLAM first and do the PH test until it is clear.

I would get your pH in line before you slam, as the pH test will be useless above a Free Chlorine of 10 ppm. Once you start the slam, leave the pH alone until complete.

ok. A more general question regarding this, will the color of the water affect the PH reading by using R-0004 of K-2006? If yes, how can I do the PH test in this case? If not, maybe my K-2006 kit needs to be replaced.

The color of your water will not have enough affect to make any significant difference.
