Hi all!

With everyone's helpful advice my first summer with the pool was a big success. The water stayed clear and looked great all the time. The water temps are starting to drop and we don't use it very often these days so I figured it's about time to close it down for the winter.

It generally doesn't get that cold here so I'm not really sure what my best course of action is here. I've bought a tarp big enough to cover the pool and there are little hook attachments around the pool I can tie it too. Beyond that I'm not really sure what else to do to it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps the first decision you need to make is .... do you completely close or just let it run in cold weather? In your area I suspect there are a little of both owners. The link below will help you if you wish to completely close the pool (cover, remove equipment, etc). But if you only experience occasional freezes, you can keep the water moving to protect the pump and equipment. The cold water will require very little chlorine. At most, you'll need to scoop leaves and such out from time to time until they all fall. The cover will help with that.
