I have been to the store and bought 240 lbs of salt, 8lbs of dichlor shock since my CYA is so low, 3 gallons of liquid shock, and PH down.

Where should I start?

Backstory- I added 11lbs of CYA about a month ago using sock method in front of skimmer and the CYA is still showing hardly nothing. It has rained some and we’ve added a small amount of water. Pool is currently crystal clear except for some algae spots in the bottom.

Raise CYA to 30ppm; neither Dichlor or Liquid Stabilizer is the recommended course for increasing CYA. Dry, granular CYA is the easiest, and most consistent for adding CYA to the pool using the "sock method."

Liquid chlorine is best way to raise your FC, and likely needed for SLAM process. SWCG cannot outcompete algae, nor can it keep up FC when unprotected with CYA.

Once you have 30ppm in pool, Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to confirm if you have algae given the low FC numbers. SLAM Process to eliminate it.

We don't recommend pH down as dry acid is harmful to your SWCG. Use Muriatic Acid - cheaper and easier to use.

Are you testing salt using the K-1766 Taylor drop test?

So my issue with the CYA is, I was told that I needed ALOT several weeks ago on the Trouble Free Pool Facebook page because I was down to 0 - so I ordered 11lbs and added it starting on June 16th over the next several days using the sock method. It was all completely dissolved and this would have been my first time testing - almost a month later, still below 30. I am using the k-2006-salt test. IMG_0333.png

CYA degrades over time, can be 5-15 per month or more. You added 50ppm. Over a month later it is 30. If your pool water has been above 90, that is not so unusual. You should be checking CYA at least every 2 weeks in the south.

Can you describe how you test for CYA? Instructions here: CYA - Cyanuric Acid Test

Might just be some simple testing error - also the CYA test is +/- 15 ppm.
I did it exactly how this described using the k-2006 test kit with the black dot test. The tube was filled completely up and I could still see the black dot
