First SLAM

Hello, I am new to TFP and am about to do my first SLAM to hopefully end my relationship with the pool store as well as my problems of not being able to hold chlorine. My main question prior to the SLAM - I have a SWG - but it is not working right now and I am waiting on a new replacement cell. Mine SWCG is turned off so I'm not sure which chart to use to determine my shock level. Do I use the Non-SWCG number or the SWCG number since mine is currently turned off. My CYA is at 45. Thanks!

Have the recommended Taylor test kit. I guess I should have been using the ChemGeek version, the link in Pool School takes me to a Chlorine/CYA chart with different shock levels based on the two different types, and says not recommended for SWCG pools below 70.

sorry, same shock levels just not recommended below 70 for SCWG.

I have maintained my FC at shock level and passed the overnight test last night. My CC was still at 1. The FC has fallen down to 18 from my shock level of 24, but it now passes the CC test at .5. I have added another gallon of bleach to return it to 24. My question is does it have to pass the CC test at the shock level or should I consider the SLAM complete as of now? I have crystal clear water. Also, one follow on question - how far down does the chlorine have to come for it to be safe for swimming? Thanks!
