Filtration Schedule for pool with new plaster (WetEdge Signature Matrix)

Hi,

I am in the process of having a new pool built and we are currently at the point where they started it up and I am having to brush the plaster. When starting the pool up, the builder has the pump (IntelliFlo VSF) running at 100% 24/7. Is there any guidance as to how long the pump should be ran or at what levels to ensure the plaster dust is properly filtered? I don't mind running it at 100%, but I would rather not waste money running it at a uncessarily high speed.

For what it's worth, I was planning on scheduling the filter based around something like this:

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
There is little reason to run a VS pump at full speed. I would cut it down to 50% or ~1800 rpm until the plaster dust is cleaned up.

After that, you run the pump for reason. This time of year, you will need to skim the surface. Your SWCG will not be generating chlorine until the water warms above ~55F in the spring. So whatever rpm is needed to skim the surface and however long each day you wish to run the pump to achieve that. You will be adding liquid chlorine every few days to keep the FC in the target range for your CYA.

Once the SWCG is generating, you will need to run the pump at a high enough rpm to satisfy the flow switch and long enough to generate the chlorine you need each day. Skimming time is the next reason and thus keep that in mind.

I suggest you review Pool Care Basics

You should get the Wet Edge (NPC) startup guide. It gives specific day-by-day instructions. The short answer is

Continuous operation of the pumps and filtration system is mandatory for seven days, or until the plaster dust has been brushed away and filtered out, and the water is no longer cloudy (minimum of 72 hours).

Just don't follow the guide's chemistry recommendations for the long term. Follow TFP's instead.
