I deep cleaned my DEV60 DE filter (opened it up and cleaned the grids of all waste/D.E. I put everything back together and recharged with D.E then noticed I had no air in the pump basket which I've been batteling previously (possible suction side leak) and my filter pressure stayed at 20psi clean. At this point my water chemical balance was perfect but I was cloudy blue water and couldent figure out why until I removed the top portion of my filter to realize the manifold of my DEV60 wasent sitting correctly and the cloudiness was caused by D.E entering the pool because the manifold was not straight down on the grids. I again removed the grid assembly to start over (making sure the manifold is secured down) and recharged with 6lbs of D.E required by filter label and now I'm back to water level in the pump basket dropping after roughly a few hours.....is this a filter problem? I dont believe I have a suction side leak because when the manifold wasent sitting correctly on the grids I had 0 air in the pump. I'm thinking of switching to a cartridge filter.....any thoughts?

Your pool is routhly the same size as mine, maybe even a little bigger. I use the biggest Pentair Clean & Clear Plus cartridge filter, the 520. I clean it once a year and there's little debris in it thanks to my skimmer hair nets. The filter cartridges last for years; the low maintenance is a big plus.
