So the house I bought last year has a pool and is quite nice. The problem I'm having is I'm getting filter sand in the pool. Not much, and I can't tell during which cycle of backwashing/ rinsing/ filtering it happens. There isn't a TON of sand, but this is a new problem. Its not constant... just looks like a puff or two every now and then coming in from the return jets from the pump/filter. My immediate thought was there is some kind of problem with the multivalve... a crack or break inside that shouldn't be there. I did find a small piece of plastic stuck in one of the jets into the pool, which is why I think this may be the problem.
So is there anything else that might be causing this issue? The filter itself is fiberglass, and seems relatively new, but I guess there could be something broken inside if it as well.
And while I don't consider myself super "handy", I feel comfortable removing all the screws from the valve, and opening it up to see what there is to see. But before I take this apart, at the very least, can I just assume I can put it back together, even if there are problems, so I can wait for someone to replace it? The last thing I need is for the pump and filter to be out of commission. Pool services are incredibly slow where I live, and can't wait for them to come fix something.
