Fill in pool with dirt?

I know this isn’t the place to probably ask this, but has anyone here ever filled in their pool and then landscaped over and be happy with it? For the time and expense of the pool, honestly we don’t use it but a few times a year. We did get an auto cover last year which has helped a lot. Anyone with any experience with this? Thank you!

After my father died and all the kids had married and moved out, my Mom had ours filled in. She had no regrets. It wasn't being used by family and she worried more about liability. Even with fence, she caught neighborhood kids sneaking in late at night to swim.

Thank you. Did she hire a landscaper? I’m not even sure where to start or who to ask.

I would start by consulting your local municipal authority to see if there are any code requirements for abandoning a pool. Some areas, like CA, have very strict requirements for abandoning a pool structure. Costs can vary widely.
