Fifth year, first SLAM.

Happy Spring everyone! It’s been unseasonably warm here, meaning my pool water warmed much earlier than expected, leaving me with my first green mess.



Had to add a little water to reach skimmer level.

FC was 0 as expected, CYA still reading 60 from the fall… the water I added may have diluted that a bit, but treating at 60 level until I re-test cya tomorrow.

pH came in between 7-7.2.

2 gallons of 12.5% had me reading 15 after 15 minutes, but gallon 3 then had me overshoot SLAM level at 35. Oh well, we’ve got a strong start.

Now we start the wait, test, add, brush game.

Normally I feel bad for the OP, but in your case, I'll say a prayer for the algae. It has NO idea how badly it chose whose pool to mess up. It will pay dearly for that mistake.

Hmm that is an interesting thought. Plus the opacity could really make searching for dive rings more entertaining.

Significant progress already day 2.

FC drop is slower.

Certainly helps to be doing this in April while the water is 62 and not 82, and the UV index is still quite low.

Day 3, even better. Still cloudy but more blue and I can make out the bottom now.


Some hotels might call this clear.

Yeah, the steps have been out since I closed in October.

Day 5.

Couldn’t do much yesterday due to some heavy rains. But FC has held high.

Turned my SWG on for the day as I’ll be away from home, so should be able to hold close to SLAM based on what I’ve been seeing for losses.

OCLT tomorrow if all goes according to plan.

It’s almost like this SLAM process works exactly as prescribed.

Still need to vacuum and will swap/clean my filter.

Now we just need some sun. Swim season is almost here!

So you never SLAM'd your own pool, but it's still SLAM # 176 for you just the same.
