What does everyone do when they go on vacation for a week?

I use liquid chlorine to sanitize my pool. At the beginning of the season I start with pucks until my CYA gets into range and then I switch over to liquid chlorine. Here are my test results and I plan to be away for 9 days.

FC- 4
CC- 0
PH- 7.6
TA- 80
CH- 290
CYA- 30
Temperature- 78 Degrees

I was planning to drop my PH down to about 7.0 and then add enough liquid chlorine to bring it to SLAM levels at 12ppm. Also, I was going to drop 2 or 3 pucks into the in-line chlorinator as a safety back up.

What’s everyones thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

If you have anyone who can stop by a few times to dump in a gallon of chlorine, that’s ideal.

If not, bring up to slam and put on a cover if available. When I was gone for a week recently, I brought up to slam and had my solar cover on the entire time. I came back and things were fine. I added chlorine the day I returned.

I've always been successful using a floater with a few tabs in it as insurance during vacations just in case something goes wrong with the SWG. Your technique of maintaining CYA with tabs is also what I do. Really works out nicely.

War story: One day into a 10-day trip to Italy the pump breaker tripped (long story there), which I could easily view via iAquaLink. Sigh... We were new in the neighborhood, so no one to call. Resigned to a green pool upon return. After restarting the pump, was shocked (pun intended) to find FC just fine (about 6 with CYA 70 iirc). Just a hint of algae in the spa, where the floater couldn't reach. Did a mini-SLAM there and all was fine. Dodged a bullet.
