I have been in the slam process for 4 days. I have a 20,000 inground with a sand filter. The first couple of days were typical with having to add bleach to keep up fc level and backwashing when filter pressure rose. My CYA is 40 and fc is 20 - a little high. The last day and half the fc chlorine hasn’t changed much and my filter pressure doesn’t rise but the pool is still really cloudy. Why would the fc not drop and filter pressure not rise ? Seems to indicate not working ?

Can you share a pic or two of the water? Which brand of bleach are you using? And when was the last time you went into the filter to inspect the sand or do a deep clean?

By the looks of it you're at the tail end of the SLAM Process. This can be the most nerve-wrecking while having to wait for that final transition. Keep inspecting, brushing, and maintaining. You're close. 
A follow up question kind of related - never asked but was always curious - following the slam process instead of doing your target FC you did more (say instead of target FC of 16 you did 24) would you get quicker results ?By the looks of it you're at the tail end of the SLAM Process. Not likely. The additional free chlorine would not have CYA to bind to for protection and likely be oxidized by the sun quickly resulting in waste.
