Thanks to TFP I now measure my chlorine with a FAS-DPD test kit but I’m still a little confused on a couple things;
1) My FC is 5 and my CC is .5 so is my TC 5.5 or 4.5?
2)Should I work towards a zero CC level? If so how?
3) The pool industry tells us to maintain FC between 1-3ppm, is this also TFP’s position?
Tia for you help!

5.5, but we don't track TC...irrelevant.

A .5 CC is totally normal...ignore it unless is is 1 or greater.

NO. Follow this link..Link-->FC/CYA Levels

And for everything else...
Tia for you help!
You are Welcome.

FC 5 CC.5 =TC 5.5
You can ignore CC of .5. If you see a CC above 1 it shows that there is something causing an issue. Could be algae or something else. A dead mouse in a skimmer or something similar will do it. The CC shows you when chlorine is hard at work trying to kill something.
