I tested my pool like normal last night got FC of 5.5 CC 0.5. Ph 7.6 for reference my CYA is 50. A storm blew up and I didn’t get to add LC last night so I decided to do it early this morning. So of course I can’t add LC without testing. Pulled my sample this morning set up my speed stir and when putting DPD powder spilled some instead of getting it in the cylinder. Added some more it didn’t look as bright a color as normal but tested and got FC 3.5 CC 1.5. My brain still not awake thought SLAM time but as I was going to empty the test cylinder I noticed it was yellow I have never seen that before. So my brain engaged enough to scream test again. So I did it without spilling powder and got FC 5 CC 0.5. Sample was clear when done. Tested a third time to be sure got 5 and 0.5 again. Guess I didn’t get enough DPD powder in the first time.

If you're using the 10ML water sample, generally one heaping scoop is enough. If your using the 25ML water sample, two scoops is typically best. You can almost never have too much power, but not enough and you may not get an accurate reading. I generally use the 10 ML sample with one healthy scoop of powder and it's fine. But I don't do it when I'm still asleep.
