I am having to add about 2” water every other day. The temp in the pool is a tropical 90* Fahrenheit, the day time temps are 60-70* fahrenheit night time temps drop to 30-40*f, very windy no rain. Is this way out of line for evaporation can find no leaks all plumbing is contained and can be checked. Just looking for some input going to do the bucket test this weekend. Thanks in advance... and yes I have had pool opened for 10 days now and kids have been swimming 3 times already this week chemical levels are good but PH is little high all is good though?

I'd say that 2" every other day (1" per day) of water evaporation is excessive. That's about 200 gallons a day. Typical could be up to 1/4" per day and not be too concerned. Windy, hot water, dry air would make it worse. It seems like you have at least 2 of the 3. Splash out could be an issue, but you'd see that on the ground. Maybe keep an eye on it over the next week and see if the water drop is consistent.

I found I had a coupling come unglued on my return line. Last year I was losing a lot of water and thought it to be from the liner, which I have since changed. After changing the liner last week, I noticed a portion of the area by the pool getting wet, even with no rain and sunshine. Upon digging in that area, I noticed water flow along the line. I continued to dig the line up. After about 25ft, I found the issue. A coupling was popped loose. A steady stream was coming out, that I can guess would be about 1 gallon every 2 mins. It had jetted a good size hole around the lines. Made the repair and all is good. Waited a couple days to cover it back to make sure there were no other leaks. Ditch was dry 2 days later.

Recently I lost 4 inches of water over night and was completely puzzled where the water went. It turned out i had left my water hose in the bottom of pool and the back pressure was causing major leaking at the water faucet itself due to the valve design.
