Enjoy Pool System - How to switch to Chlorine?

Hello!
New (soon to be) above ground pool owner here. Currently in the process of closing on a house and have never owned a pool before. Current owners state that they are using Enjoy! system (from the very little info I could find online, and on this forum it is a reduced chlorine system that uses copper and silver but that it has some drawbacks).

Questions:
Can I easily switch to standard chlorine system? (If so, how? Can I do this without draining pool??)
When I winterize should I just use their kit and then switch over in the spring?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah just stop using it. You can test and see how much copper is in the water to see if you should do a partial drain.

My guess is the pool water could have a substantial amount of copper in it. You’re going to have to be careful and not add chlorine beyond what the current owners are doing otherwise you will get copper stains on the liner.

Can you be more specific about this pool? Size? Age of pool and liner? Equipment?

Depending on when you close and move in, it may be best to simply winterize it and then deal with the mess in the spring. I would even go so far as to say you should leave it uncovered in the winter and allow as much precipitation as possible to dilute and overflow the copper contaminated water as possible. Since you get freezes where you are, you’ll have to get some advice on how to safely do that without damaging the pool structure or liner.

Pool is a circular 21’ x 54” above ground using a sand filter. Age of pool is early 2000’s. Not sure on age of liner but visually it looks fine.

Any suggestions on rage for copper concentrations? What threshold would warrant partial draining?
