My Pentair EasyTouch doesn’t communicate with the pump . If I put the EasyTouch in timeout mode, I can turn on the pump at the pump display but if I put it in auto and hit the filter button, the light comes on, but the pump doesn’t turn on

Sounds like you have lost your RS-485 com port..
What else do you have that uses the com port? SWCG? Remotes? ScreenLogic? or ???
Makes sure the com cable is connected to the pump.
We have seen the cable cut or eaten in two.. Also have seen corrosion where the cable connects to the pump, so would not hurt to inspect the pins on both sides of the connection at the pump.
