Easy Touch Remote Communication Timeout

I've been having problems with my Easy Touch remote (the bulky white thing). It used to work fine, but stopped working a while ago. I have tried replacing batteries and cycling power to pool equipment. I also tried, numerous times, going into settings and resending the address, and the Easy Touch remote says it found the address, but it still times out when trying to sync.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

ps - I have the iOS app, and that works fine, but I'd still like to get the Easy Touch remote working and figure out what is going on.

if you're unable to reset the address, it's probably the card. is the fccid on your remote Easytouch or Easytouch2a?

have you followed the reset instructions from poolclown? and how long were waiting for the address to lock, and what firmware versions are on your outdoor board and remote?

Thanks for the help...

I tried resetting the addresses multiple times. The address locked within a couple seconds, but after I hit menu button on remote and outdoor unit, it immediately gave comm timeouts again.

Easytouch2a
Firmware on remote => SOFT : 2.130, BOOT : 1.010
Firmware on outdoor unit => SOFT : 2.100, BOOT : 1.010

We know the comms on the outdoor board are good if your screenlogic (ios app) can control the system.

So it's interesting that the remote was able to lock but still got timeouts... turn on an Aux circuit on the outdoor board and then power up the remote... see if the remote ever shows the Aux circuit is ON.

Some things to check...
  1. Is the cabling from the outdoor board to the remote's transceiver card in good shape? (since you've got an Easytouch2a, this is going to be a card with a "Laird" chipset, and it is different from the screenlogic wireless link if you've got one)
  2. If you open the transceiver card enclosure, is there any visible corrosion on the components?
  3. how is everything connected to the comm port? i.e. do you have a port expander or salt cell with extra comm ports, or is everything screwed into the same terminal block? It could be that the screenlogic (or the screenlogic wireless link) cable is good, but the remote transceiver card cable is bad.
  4. Could it be excessive RF noise? When you first noticed that it wasn't working, had any new electrical/electronic stuff been installed nearby?
