Draining pool

Good afternoon everybody. I'm still learning this pool thing so please forgive me if I sound very silly. I have the Taylor 2006c test kit and I test almost everyday. I've tried to drain my pool and fill the same time since my CYA is off the charts. I don't think it's working very well at this point. So I've decided to do a bigger drain before filling this time. The pool calculator recommends draining 64% of my water. I know that it's dangerous to my liner to do a bigger drain like that and I can't afford a tarp big enough to do the fill on top. What is a safe level to drain to and refill?
I have a 24ft round 4ft deep pool. Metal sides with vinyl liner.
What do y'all suggest? Tia

Well, I don't know what your current CYA is, but when it comes to CYA and changing water, I keep it in simple math terms. For example, if my CYA is 100 and I want 50, I know I need to exchange 50% of my water. If my CYA is 200 and I need to lower it under 100, I know 50% will only get me to 100, so I probably need to exchange about 75%. Keep in mind whatever your CYA goal, you never want to go any lower than about 18" from the bottom to keep the walls and liner secure. While a larger exchange is always more efficient, you may have no choice but to do more than one fill and exchange just to ensure you maintain the integrity of the pool structure.
