Drainage for 15'AGP Round. Hard Clay Soil

I have a Contempra round steel walled pool with metal tracks for the wall.
I am trying to mitigate any water from rain storms from getting under the tracks and eventually under the pool. Because it is hard clay, the soil does not absorb the water and it will stand and puddle. Here are my questions:

1. What are my options for this?
2. Can I create a 2' round border with 3/4" pebble around the pool?
3. I am reading that I cannot put rock too close to the pool wall is this true? If that is the case what can I use? I see pictures of this pool with gravel around it but not sure.
4. Do I need to dig a ditch and put perforated hose below to capture run-off? Any help appreciated. Seems like If I can seal the gap below the pool where the tracks are that may be helpful.

If you require pictures, please let me know.

Thanks so much.

Pictures would be helpful. A french drain can divert water away from the pool. You can put pebbles or rock chips around the base of the pool to help drain water away, you just don't want to throw them against the pool forcefully with a shovel or front end loader. You want to be careful placing rock around the pool so you don't scratch the finish on the pool walls.

If you want rainwater to drain away from the pool, you need to provide a downhill path for it to flow through. A french drain is a common way to do this. If you just put pebbles around the pool, water will stand and puddle underneath these pebbles.

Your steel walls are very probably galvanized. This means the steel is covered by a thin layer of zinc which prevents the steel from rusting. If the zinc coating gets damaged (e.g. by a rock), steel underneath will rust. You don't want that.
