Dolphin T35 tripping GFCI when climbing stairs

Hi - I am trying to figure out what's going on with my Dolphin, I have narrowed it down to the robot itself (I have two controllers and both experience the GFCI trip and run fine when normally when robot is disconnected).

I have narrowed it down further to when the robot tries to climb the stairs. It can climb walls fine but it shuts off on the stairs which tells this very novice electrician that the call for more power is not being regulated properly...again that could be a very inaccurate assumption. Curious if anyone else has other ideas here.

have you tried an out of water test? (basically flip it upside down and turn it on - check for videos if unsure)... try the out of water test again and then tip the unit up to simulate a wall climb.

all I can think of is maybe there's water in the motor housing and it's sloshing around when the unit "tips up", OR possibly there's a loose connection on the cable from the controller to the robot (also check the swivel connector if you have one)
