I have a Dolphin Sigma, which does a great job. I bought my first one last year as a refurb and it failed. After a ton of issues, Maytronics just sent me a new one, with paid shipping for the return. That said, its been a year now, and I started having some communications errors. I reset everything, blah blah.

Now, this unit has a full warranty on it, but before I send it back paying shipping, I am wondering if there is any fix for this that keeps it simple. As you can see, there doesn't appear to be any water intrusion or corrosion, etc.

I decoupled the swivel and found the that the middle pin is retracted. It is still "springy", it just doesn't fully extend. Thoughts, suggestions?

I haven't opened my swivel to see, but it's possible that the center pin is supposed to be that way -- perhaps to ensure that its connection is only made after the other two pins have made contact.

Good point but there doesn’t seem to be a trigger when depressing the outer pins. The center one didn’t pop up. I ran through that when troubleshooting.

I can pull it up easily with my fingers. It’s seems there is a spring failure. I’m tempted to inject some compressed air air in there in case that spring is bound up. Just looking for some experience here on the board.

My unit is about 7 years old and has worked great except for hanging up on my domed drain. Recently it stopped and I started by taking apart the swivel. It was dirty and I cleaned it, put it back together and it ran for about 6 months before stopping. I cleaned the swivel unit again and it ran for about 30 sec. Now it notice the same thing you have with the center pin…it will not pop out. I would love to just replace the swivel unit since I have gotten most of the useful life out of the unit (7 years), and new cord unit is about $300 only to have something else fail. Any thoughts on a work around?
