I bought a Dolphin Sigma pool cleaner and I was a little surprised by how much gets by the filters. For example, dog hair slips around the outside of the filter housings and gets in the impeller. This causes an error (Something stuck in the suction motor) and it stops cleaning. I would have thought there would be a rubber seal or gasket around the filter housings to keep that from happening.

Has anyone come up with a DIY fix for this?

So, beyond frustrated with my Sigma and Maytronics. My pool cleaner has yet to complete a cleaning job, ever... after 15 to 30 minutes it stops and gives me an error that something is stuck in the suction motor. A few times there was some hair, other times it was clear. They gave me an RMA, I sent it back and made sure that everything was clean including the suction motor and the filters. They sent it back a month later and the remedy listed on the return paperwork said "cleared impeller blade inside motor, all components good, tank tested" and without the filter sets that I included for testing.

I finally got the elements delivered, and again it will not complete a cleaning. Within the first 15 minutes I get "something is stuck in the suction motor" and pull it out to find nothing in the impeller. I do find some small debris at the base of the motor even though the impeller is clear, I feel like the sensor for detecting the impeller motor resistance is a touch too sensitive? And I can't for the life of me understand why so much debris gets past the filter elements. An attempt to try some extra small weather stripping around the filters didn't work. My pool is not that dirty... I don't think...

Hey CWO !!! I don't recall too many folks using the Sigma. Being spendy probably has at least some to do with it. Half the country still having their pools closed isn't helping either.

Sorry you're kinda blazing the trail here but keep us posted and it may help others down the road.

We've been having the exact same issue with our Nautilus CC Supreme. "Something stuck in suction motor" error after about 30 minutes each time. Absolutely nothing stuck or impeding impeller or motor movement. Our less than 2YO vacuum has been returned for "warranty service" twice now. This will be the third return. They supposedly replaced the motor unit last time and it ran for almost a full season until we just began using the pool last month again.

When should we demand a new replacement unit?

Following up on our CC Supreme. We had the back yard turfed (Artificial Turf) and pretty much figured out the infill sand from that job sometimes blows into the pool with our TX wind causing the Dolphin's very fine filter screens to cause the erroneous error. Now that the infill has worked it's way deeper into the turf I'm only having to clean the screens maybe every 2nd or 3rd vacuuming.

So, after some back and forth with Maytronics I am now a very happy camper. After several emails I finally got a phone call from the nicest lady at customer support and she logged in to see my error log. Her immediate response was "oh honey, this is not right at all... you have a defective suction motor. I'm emailing you a shipping label and RMA right now". I shipped it the next day and had it back in a week. Hasn't missed a cleaning cycle and not one error in the last 30 days. And yes I love my Sigma!
