I bought my Dolphin S-200 in Feb 2022 and made the mistake of leaving it in the pool. I won't make that mistake again.
Today I noticed when started, it will run for less than a minute and then stop. If I restart it, the same thing happens. I opened it up and found the case was dry. Both motors will spin, but the impeller pump motor turns stiffer than I would think (even for a DC motor) and there's evidence the motor seal started leaking recently (see photo).
I suspect the circuit board monitors motor amperage and turns the unit off if the amperage exceeds their spec. I'm theorizing the impeller pump motor stiffness would cause this safety trip. I can get a new motor for $170.
Since I left it in the pool, the cable is looking pretty rough, but I've found replacements on ebay for about $60.
I don't mind spending $230 to fix it, and am curious what your vote would be - fix or replace???
If replace, any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your opinions.
