I'm having the same issue. Other than esthetics, is there a reason to replace it before it actually fails and allows water to penetrate the cable? If that happens will it damage the unit itself.. Hence replacing before that point would make sense? Ty
 
I see someone revived this old post. My new dolphin cleaner’s cord has degraded at the speed of lightening. It has degraded in 1 year what my old dolphin nautilus did in 3 years. What is up with that?
 
It just happens. Whether fast degradation or slow, it’s going to disintegrate. Water, heat, UV, and chlorine will damage anything made out of polymers. The outer rubber sheath of the cable is very thick, it will go years before it is ever compromised. You simply replace the cable when it gets too ugly to ignore.
