Doheny's pump quality?

Are Doheny brand pumps decent quality wise? They are significantly cheaper than comparable brands, I assume for a reason. It looks like one of them is actually a re-branded Hayward. Shows self-priming, probably louder than most?

I have a 1hp Hayward super right now that looks like it needs replaced soon. Actually going to create another post regarding that, was just curious as I see they are currently having a sale.

Edit: actually now that I spent more than 5min looking at pumps, looks like there are even cheaper brands out there like Harris etc. Are there any to absolutely avoid? Sorry, should have done a bit more research before posting. I've been pretty happy with my Hayward besides the rubber gasket being a complete pain in the Rear to replace consistently.

We had some members go with Calimar, Black and Decker and Circupool. That was the last we heard and no news is good news. I found a Calimar pump a week or two back while helping someone that was on sale for $419. At that price it only has to last 1/3 as long as the flagship pump to break even. If it lasts any longer, and it likely will, it's all gravy.

Have you checked to see if your power company has any energy rebates for replacing your current pump?

I had a blood thirsty 1.5hp Hayward Super Pump that was gulping down 1300watts an hour when we bought this house. I found the Waterway variable speed Power Defender 140 pump on sale for ~$530 and after the energy program rebate the net cost was $280. Made in USA verses the cheap Chinese house brands. I'm super happy with this pump so far.

I did, looks like they only offer rebates for EV charging. I ended up going with a Pentair SuperFlo VST and so far it's been working great. Surprised how quiet this thing is on low RPM.

We have a Doheny 3 HP variable speed pump and it is a re-branded Harris. We have had 3 of the same pump, and they all leak in varying places. I've had it replaced twice under warranty in the first year for electrical problems and it just randomly losing the ability to move water strongly enough. It is quiet and still works despite the annoying trickling leaks.

Thanks for the feedback. I heard similar things from others online, but talking to local pool repair companies, most said they wouldn't even work on anything besides Pentair/Hayward/etc, which made my decision easy.

Hope your newest one works out better than the rest!
