Do you Shock after filling the pool with Clean Water?

For Temporary AGP vinyl pool owners (Intex, Bestway, Coleman etc.). After setting up the pool and filling it with clean city water for the season, do you have to shock it first or just add enough chemicals to recommended levels then maintain?

How about for those with Saltwater Generators? Do you just run the generator in boost mode and ad CYA?

You shouldn't have to SLAM a clean pool. Just add recommended amount of x,y,z.

I start my clean water with bleach, then run the SWG long enough to maintain FC.

So, during initial setup you will bring the FC to proper level then just maintain it with SWG? Will this defeat the purpose of no chlorine smell?

Not at all. When you use the correct amount of bleach for your pool, and balance the water, there is no chlorine smell.
