Do I need to SLAM?

Smart Pro Liquid Chlorinizor - Says its 12.5% hypochlorite
Then 2 gallons 1 cup should have gotten you +19 FC and you only got 11. With clear water and no massive FC loss previously, there is almost no way you lost 8 FC to measure 11, 40 mins later. (Which should have been PLENTY of time to mix with the pump running).

So you either picked a dead spot for circulation when testing, or the bleach is half strength now.

If it was the bleach, hopefully the next bottles are better.

Maybe that's so, I tested in the deep end about 3 feet away from skimmer on the radius of the pool. It is opposite from where the deep end return faces.

Came home and FC was at 8 so I did pool math and added 1.5 gallons tested 45 min later at FC now at 16. Did pool math again and added another half gallon. Will test again around 8pm when it’s dark. Welcome to input friends!

Note: Water clear but I thinking there is some black algae along seam line in deep end that I keep brushing away.

Appreciate y’all hanging in there for the play by play with me. Just went back down to test again at 9pm before bed. Not sure what to think.
At 630pm I was at 16FC and then added another half gallon which should of brought me up 23 ( been falling short every time so maybe 21 ) checking just now at 9pm I am at 15.5FC. Hoping I touched that Shock level before it fell.

Ok frustrated. Went from 16 to 10 overnight. Just added another gallon and that only brought me up 3ppm? See pics of date on container. Not sure how to read. Wife is going to get me six more gallons and I will be back around 1030 this morning to add two gallons to try to get to the 20FC range.

Feel like I made some progress. I thought the pool was clear but when I went home at 11am today the water was really really clear so it must of had some cloud to it before. Here are the stats for those that are sticking with me on this.
When I left this morning at 830am I got it up to 13FC from 10FC, when I got back home at 11am it had only dropped to 12FC. I added 1.3 Gallons with a much newer date on the Chlorine and it got me to 18FC. Before I left I added 3 more cups of chlorine to hopefully get me to 20FC. Will check again when I get home at five.

Here is my question: Tonight at dark when I do my test lets say I end up 18FC that HIGH of a FC should pretty much hold all night and not be below 17FC in the morning? Just curious if a higher FC is more prone to dropping than a lower FC? Thank you all.

Good to see your FC is beginning to hold. If you elect to do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test this evening, a starting FC of 18 is fine. It should be no lower than 17 in the morning. Be sure the SWG (if currently on) is off at least 30 min before you take the final nighttime FC test. Take the morning FC test before the sunlight hits the water.

Was at 18FC at 1130am and now at 13FC at 530pm. A 5 ppm loss. Added 1.3 gallons per school math. Swg lights all good and in boost mode. Little bubbles all over pool walls. Went through ladder including taking rubber plugs out of legs to look for green water and nothing. Skimmers clean too. Should I hit it again when the sun goes down? Then do a OCLT? Sons bday party Saturday.

Note: Full sun and no rain today for the first time in 3 days. Water looks amazing!

Hit it as often as it needs and your schedule allows. If you are home there is little excuse to go more than 2-3 hours. The more time you spend at SLAM level, the quicker it goes.

You’ll be fine for the party, even if the SLAM is ongoing. Let the FC drift 3 (?) ppm below SLAM just to be absolutely sure there is no eye irritations. The CYA test is so subjective that none of us can ever be really sure we see it right. But yeah, the water will look amazing and nobody has to know you are mid battle. (y)

Thank you I will.

Went from 21 to 15 over night. Just bumped to 22. Going to hit it hard today. Every 3 hours I will be home to keep FC at SLAM. Also going to double check my CYA at lunch. Ready to be done with this. Wife is mad because I keep send her to get more chlorine.

AWESOME !!!!!!

Not so awsome and sorry I can’t help there. 🤣

Fc at 19.5 when I got home and CYA leaning more towards 60 so I bumped by target to 24. Question though will the chorine from Feb of this year not only not increase my FC as much but can it also make the FC fall faster from being effected by the sun and fighting this hidden algea that I am dealing with right now?
