Do I need to shock before closing for winter if my water got just a little bit green?

Hello everyone,
I’m planning to close my pool for the winter in the next few days, but I’ve noticed that the water has a very slight greenish tint.
Do I need to shock the pool first, or will the freezing temperatures take care of the problem? Right now, nighttime temperatures are hovering around freezing, and we’re expecting a harsh winter ahead, with temperatures dropping as low as 7°F (-14°C).

Kind regards,
Pavel

It is too late in the season to deal with algae in NJ.

Winterize the pool and plan to open it early to deal with your algae.
