Do I have to drain my pool in the winter?

So my pool has a Marin Smart Cover in it and I just noticed it filled up from looking in the skimmer. Water is in the skimmer at this point. (Skimmer is plugged so water can’t fall back down into the pipes) Do I have to drain it below the skimmer? Or as long as I have the gizmo in the skimmer, the skimmer wont crack and it should be fine? Any info would be appreciated

Once your pool is properly winterized you can ignore it all winter. You do not need to drain additional water.
