Dirty looking plastic drain covers

Hi. I’ve tried to search with no luck. My salt water pool is sparkling clean. Chemicals are perfect. Surfaces are great. The two drain covers in spa and pool look brown. They’re plastic.

There must be a way to get them sparking white? I’ve tried dropping chlorine tabs in them and tried muriatic acid through a pipe but no change??

Probably iron.

I tried vitamin c in a satchel sitting on drain. Any suggestions on how to do it?

Just put the vitamin C on the drain cover.

Are the covers current code compliant?

Maybe replace the covers with new covers.

Maybe ascorbic acid in a sock to sit for a while.

If you remove the covers, they can sometimes be hard to reinstall.

If you remove old covers, they should be replaced with new covers.
