My wife is out of town visiting her mom for 2 weeks. I have very poor color vision. So, I decided to get a pool test from two different testing places. I took a giant glass bottle of water. Gathered from elbow deep in the pool. I live within 3 miles of both places.

I took the sample straight to Leslie pool and than from there straight to Rosedale pool.

Rosedale was closer to my expectations based on the results I got with my wife reading the colors the morning she left.

Still interesting to see how far off Leslie is from Rosedale pool.

As you have experienced, there is no substitute for your own proper testing. Even with vision issues your results are more reliable with a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C. We have many members in the same boat.

Its a tale as old as time..
Well, at least as old as pool stores 😂😂
I just added all that stuff they said u “need” to my cart online & it’s over $200
& that’s before the “1.5#’s of shock every week - any shock will do” (even though by their own results u already have low ph, high fc, all the recommended ch u need & clear water!)
Talk about shock! 🤦‍♀️

I do have a suggestion for u since u depend on your wife to read the results of the tests.
Get yourself a ph meter - there’s no colors involved.
Also, try doing the fas/dpd test up against a white background/on a white surface (a piece of paper will suffice) without the speed stir or it’s light so u can clearly see the change to clear.

Ta & ch can wait till she gets back home.

@Chemgeek wrote here some years ago that, for the TA and CH tests, the indicator, is just an indicator, that you can add an extra drop of it without affecting the test and it may make the color more vivid for those with impairments.

Please be safe and do not use glass anywhere near your pool! If it shatters, you’ll never be able to find
all the pieces and will end up having to drain the pool. Getting it all off the pool deck will be a challenge
too. Hope you find a good way to read the test results. Glad you’re here! Welcome.
