So, we've decked around about 1/3 of our pool (not finished in these pictures). We'll be putting up something to block the area next to the stairs and there will be railings on the sides. The part directly over the pool is the "cannonball deck" for the kids. I REALLY wanted to fully deck the whole pool. But right next to rest of the pool is only about 2-3 feet of rock until a retaining wall, so we'd then have to go further into the yard. Which isn't the end of the world, but DH is so over digging post holes. Also, we can't go any further into the yard on the side with the fence b/c it's the only access to bring the mower to the grass.
So, my idea was to create a false decking surround, maybe 2 feet out, all around the rest? Just to make it look "finished". But then I won't be able to brush the sides over there, unless I have some sort of ledge to stand on. It's already difficult to lean over the side and do it, as I'm 5'3" and the pool is 52inches.
Any thoughts, ideas, advice? I currently have pallets up against the sides and put flowers in them, but it's not giving the effect I had hoped for. I've also attached a few "inspiration" pics that have sort of what I'm talking about, but just not sure how to do it, since it's not really possible to connect to any of our current decking. So I worry about stabilization.
